After a day of snorkeling in crystal clear waters and a night of partying in the bars of Phuket, nothing beats starting the morning with a relaxing massage to get you ready for another day of sightseeing. The experience was both invigorating and deeply calming.
Phuket is certainly rife with massage spas both basic and high-end, depending on your budget. Whilst some of the thoroughfare massage places may be sketchy (one even offered a prostate massage), most seem to be kosher with glass storefronts.
Nevertheless, I opted for a massage spa called Siladon Spa that is situated inside the Marina Hotel. The interior was elegantly decorated and gave a sense of serenity and professionalism. Despite the exclusive ambience, the prices were ridiculously affordable – a one-hour aroma oil massage cost $18 and a one-hour body scrub, $20.
My husband and I booked a 2-hour couples massage for $68 and we picked our oil of choice – Lavender for me and Lemongrass for him. A uniformed lady showed us to a private room which had a locker for our clothes and valuables. The room was spacious with 3 massage tables (I wonder why), a jetted tub and a full bathroom.
One of the pleasures of getting a massage in Phuket is the expertise and warmth of the practitioners. The therapists have often been trained in techniques handed down through generations. Their skilled hands know the precise points to apply pressure, easing muscle tensions and putting us into a dreamy state of relaxation. In this, Siladon Spa did not disappoint.
After the massage, I felt revitalized and ready to continue our exploring. However, we were so impressed by the experience that before we left, we booked a 4-hour couples massage that included a foot massage and a body scrub and a facial massage on top of the aromatic massage, all for a grand total of $125. I just know it will be an unforgettable indulgence. Click here to see more about Siladon Spa.
